IMC (Singapore) Planning Retreat 2010
IMC (Singapore) organised a planning retreat for 28 IMC Council Members and Members to plan the course and direction of the Institute for the next two to three years. With an apt theme “GOal 2010”, the retreat was held on Sunday, 31 January 2010 at Gallery Hotel, Singapore.
The day-long retreat consisted of plenary and breakout sessions. In the plenary session, IMC President Dr Teo Cheng Swee presented an overview of IMC’s work and achievements. For the breakout session, four teams brainstormed on the challenges and solutions to address them within three topics:
1. Raising the standing of IMC as the “de-facto” body for management consultancy
2. Growing and sustaining membership
3. Strengthening internal systems and capabilities
The facilitator for the retreat was Ms Kellin Chan, a fellow IMC member and a Brand Consultant. She was able to engage the participants in lively discussions during the entire session.
From the discussion, the retreat was able to arrive at a consensus on the broad directions that the IMC should take. As a follow up after the retreat, three taskforces, each chaired by a Council Member, have been formed to look at the Structure, Strategic Alliances and Branding for IMC.
Overall, the retreat saw keen participation and a sense of camaraderie among the members. This reflects, as one member put it, “the willingness from the heart to serve for the benefits of all members, the Institute and the society”.
